Most operators assume their Operator Licence details are correct — until something goes wrong. A DVSA visit, an audit, or a Public Inquiry can quickly expose outdated records or missing information that should have been updated months ago.
Checking your own O Licence is simple — and essential. You can use the Sign in to your Vehicle Operator Licensing account to:
- Check that your licence number and operator name are listed correctly
- See your authorised vehicle and trailer totals
- View your operating centre details
- Confirm who your transport manager is
- Check your licence status (active, suspended, revoked)
- Identify any conditions or undertakings
Once you’ve checked your licence, it’s your responsibility to keep it up to date. That includes:
- Applying for variations if your fleet size increases
- Removing or changing operating centres
- Updating your company name, entity, or registered address
- Replacing a transport manager who’s left
- Ensuring financial standing is maintained and provable
Best practice:
- Add an “O Licence check” to your monthly compliance tasks
- Keep a copy of your licence and undertakings in a digital compliance folder
- Use a variation tracker to monitor submitted changes
- Carry out a full licence review before audits or business changes
- Act fast — don’t wait for the DVSA or OTC to find the errors for you
Hauliers Hub members receive two compliance audits per year, during which we ensure all the above have been addressed and that you are fully compliant.
If you can’t confidently answer “What’s on my licence right now?” — it’s time to check.
